AMCs Preacher series casts an Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
AMC’s adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon cult comic Preacher has secured its first cast member. Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Ruth Negga has joined the small screen series as the feisty-spirited - if not feisty-named - Tulip.
The show hails from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and revolves around a troubled Texan preacher named Jesse Custer. After he fuses with a creature from heaven, he enlists his ex-girlfriend and a vampire to track down God.
According to Deadline’s report, Negga will play Custer’s former cuddlebug Tulip.
She is described as “a volatile, action-packed, sexified force of nature, a capable, unrepentant criminal with a love of fashion and ability to construct helicopter-downing bazookas out of coffee cans and corn shine who’s not afraid to steal, kill or corn cob-stab her way out of a bad situation.”
Sounds as if she’d be handy in this type of supernatural situation. Or at a boring party.
As it stands Negga is the sole cast member, with fellow Marvel thesp Dominic Cooper apparently the network’s top choice for the role of Jesse.
