Andrew Garfield is on the live-action Akira shortlist
As are Robert Pattinson and Michael Fassbender
A plethora of young British actors are currently competing for a role in the new live-action adaptation of Manga Akira .
According to various sources (including the reliable Deadline ), Warner Bros are hoping to anchor their movie with a massive star name.
The studio are reportedly pleased with the new draft of the film that has been turned in by Harry Potter screen scribe Steve Kloves.
Names currently being floated for the role of super-powered teen Tetsuo are TF favourite and new Spidey Andrew Garfield, Robert Pattinson and James McAvoy.
Meanwhile, the shortlist for lead role Kaneda includes the older likes of Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake and Joaquin Phoenix.
Akira follows Kaneda’s fight in Neo-Tokyo, where a secret government project has created superhuman beings.
Seeing as it's still really early days, and that list of names is all over the place, we're sure a number of agency reps will quickly deny their talent's involvement. Still, Garfield as Tetstuo would own. Massively.
