Angelina Jolie goes villainous in the first teaser trailer for Maleficent: watch now
Plus three spellbinding new stills
Maleficent has released a brand new teaser trailer online, revealing Angelina Jolie in all her evil-doing glory as the title character.
Hot on the heels of an official poster that showcased her impressive headgear , the teaser is our first good look at the fairytale film that’s set to hit cinemas in 2014.
Maleficent is a character you may recognise from Sleeping Beauty : she’s the evil enchantress who put the snoozing spell on Princess Aurora (here played by Elle Fanning) after being shunned from her birthday celebrations.
This revisionist version aims to flesh out Maleficent’s back story, to explain how she ended up in exile. Disney had great box-office success retelling the story of Oz The Great And Powerful , so it’ll be interesting to see if this iconic villainess has the same draw for audiences.

Not only that, but we've got our hands on three new stills - just check them out below.
Co-starring Juno Temple, Peter Capaldi and Sam Riley, Maleficent opens in the UK on 30 May 2014.
