Anne Hathaway to head up sci-fi movie Colossal
Anne Hathaway is back on the sci-fi trail, with THR reporting that the Interstellar star has signed on to star in Colossal, the forthcoming film from director Nacho Vigalondo.
Hathaway will play Gloria, a newly-divorced woman who moves back to her hometown after losing her job in New York. When news breaks that a giant lizard is on the rampage in Tokyo, Gloria becomes aware that her mind is strangely connected to the carnage in Japan…
Needless to say, it's a fairly out-there pitch, but Vigalondo is hugely excited to tackle it. "Colossal is my most ambitious script so far, and probably also the most personal one," says the director. "Having Anne and this terrific team around goes beyond my craziest expectations."
Voltage Pictures are currently shopping the film at Cannes. An official release date has yet to be confirmed.
