As all manner of "hilarious" April fools did the rounds yesterday, one caught our eye in particular. Ashton Kutcher to play Steve Jobs? Ahahahaha, good one! Oh, apparently it's not a joke. Right…
While Sony also have a biopic in the works, Kutcher will be starring in an indie account of the Apple genius's life, simply entitled Jobs . Directed by Swing Vote 's Joshua Michael Stern, the film will follow what Variety describe as his journey from, "wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple."
Straight off the bat, we would suggest that Kutcher has bagged this part largely on the basis of his looks. Not that a Jobs biography would require a hunky leading man you understand. It's just that the two men do look rather similar…
However, physical likeness aside, we do feel a little nervous every time Kutcher attempts "serious acting". You only need to cast your mind back to The Butterfly Effect to recall that look of constipated confusion that comes out whenever the star moves away from more comedic waters…
However, it will certainly be good for a few headlines, and who knows? This could be the part that relaunches Kutcher's career as a credible actor. Yet another (re)invention to put in Jobs' name...
