Assassin's Creed gets back to its roots with this awesome Altair figure
Did you think one cool Assassin's Creed thing was enough for one week? Well, pardon me if I correct the heck out of you. With Assassin's Creed Unity and Rogue on their way, I've spent some time looking back fondly on the Assassins that have gotten us this far. My affection for Ezio is strong as it's ever been, I still deeply adore Edward, and it might be one of my life goals to be like Aveline when I grow up. But my favorite will always be the one who started it all with his arrogant bluster and weirdly American voice: Altair. Sadly, despite looking for a figure to commemorate my not-at-all-obsessive love for the character, I could never find one that I actually liked--everything on the market seemed remarkably ugly or WAY out of my price range. I was starting to give up hope until I saw a light on the horizon in the form of the brand new "Altair: the Legendary Assassin" action figure.
Released at the beginning of the month for reasons that I neither know nor care to question (gift horses and mouths), this new Altair figure is an awesome homage to the first ever Assassin's Creed trailer, wherein Altair spies on his target from atop a bell tower. This figure lovingly recreates that scene, using the bell as a base, while giving our main man Al a little more flourish. That's not to say it isn't a loyal recreation--the designers clearly put thought into posing him in such a way that kept his face hidden (which was kind of his MO throughout the first AC), and remembered the stub ring finger on his right hand. (You may take a moment to call me a gigantic nerd. Done? Okay.) Add to that a durable construction, with a strong foundation and flowy bits made of flexible material, and this figure is gorgeous all around.
My American brethren won't be able to purchase this baby directly from the source, since it's only available from Ubisoft's UK store (I'm going to go ahead and assume that's a working link; damn redirects). Thankfully though, Amazon UK will ship to North America, because no one should be deprived of the world's greatest, grumpiest Assassin.
