Attack of the tablets - over 4.4 million sold in last quarter
Apple reported to own 95% of expanding tablet market
The tablets are here, and they're here to stay. According to the global research firm, Strategy Analytics, 4.4 million tablets were swallowed up by the consumer horde in last quarter alone; a massive 26% increase in sales compared to the previous quarter.
And who do you suppose is leading the pack? Apple, of course. But then, according to firm director Neil Mawston, the competition isn't far behind: "The tablet wars are up and running. Apple's iPad has jump started the market and rapidly captured 95% global share during Q3 2010. However, Apple's huge lead will be short-lived, as a wave of Android models is set to flood the market in the fourth quarter."
The tablet revolution may still be in its infancy, but judging by the early numbers, its safe to say that tablet gaming isn't going away anytime soon.
We, for one, welcome our new robotic overlords.
