Battlefield 2042 error codes - "Unable to load persistence data"
EA says it's working to fix the resurgence of Battlefield 2042 4C and 13C error codes
Battlefield 2042 error codes are keeping folks from getting into the game again, with the most common being the "Unable to load persistence data" message. We experienced the error code ourselves last week and developer DICE was able to resolve the issue fairly quickly, but now it's rearing its ugly head again.
EA DICE has already responded to this latest resurgence of Battlefield 2042 error codes, specifically with regards to error codes 4C and 13C. And since we have last week's situation for comparison, we can make some vague estimations as to when the servers might regain some stability. So if you're getting the Battlefield 2042 "Unable to load persistence data" error code, read on for everything we know about the situation from the developers.

Battlefield 2042 error codes 4C and 13C: "Unable to load persistence data"
Most likely, you're reading this because you've come across the dreaded Battlefield 2042 error code which reads: "Unable to load persistence data. Game will return to start menu. Please check your internet connection, make sure the Platform Client is online and try again." It also directs you to EA's support page for connection issues.
We've experienced the error code ourselves last week on Xbox, but now it's back for launch week. Thankfully, EA has acknowledged the issue and says a fix is in the works. In some cases the issue might already be resolved at the time of writing, so you might want to try connecting again soon.
"Our teams are responding to reports of connection issues preventing you from joining servers," reads a tweet from the developers. "We will keep you updated here as we work to restore connectivity, and get you back onto the Battlefield."

When a similar error message popped up last week, DICE said it had seen a "healthy recovery" within about an hour-and-a-half of initially acknowledging the issue. With that in mind, there's a good chance the Battlefield 2042 servers will be back online in just a couple of hours. Either way, we've reached out to EA for comment and we'll update this article if we hear back.
Battlefield 2042 EA Play subscribers error code
A lot of players with EA Play and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions (EA Play is included in Game Pass) were recently met with this error code and accompanying message: “To secure your early access and be among the first with boots on the ground when the Beta goes live, you’ll need to pre-order Battlefield 2042 or be an active EA Play subscriber.” There’ll also be a QR-code and ‘Retry’ button below.
Our teams have deployed a fix that will assist EA Play Subscribers and ensure that the game correctly identifies your ability to join us in Early Access #BattlefieldBeta We are still scaling more servers to help meet the demand. I'll keep you updated. https://t.co/VfMeOTJmLwOctober 6, 2021
This is an issue to do with the game not properly recognizing these subscriptions and nothing to do with your subscription. A fix for this has been deployed by the development team, so you should no longer be having this issue. If you are, perhaps check that your subscription is still valid. Obviously if you aren’t an EA Play subscriber, Xbox Game Pass subscriber, or haven’t pre-ordered Battlefield 2042, then you will not be able to access the open beta. You will need to have at least one of those things done to get access.
Battlefield 2042 Unknown Error
When you eventually manage to log in to the Battlefield 2042 beta and try to join a match, you might be met with a red error message box saying “Error, unknown error” in the top-right corner of your screen.

This is another issue on the developer side, so players do not need to worry about trying any fixes. Servers are being added to combat the problem and meet player demand. Be patient as the Battlefield 2042 team sorts this one out!
