Chapter 8: Alma, Greater Fiend

We're back with Rachel again, and boy is she pissed. One of the fiends has just come to town and now she's gotta go and put it down. Fortunately, this is another very short and straightforward level. Unfortunately, it has quite an aggravating boss.

Your ultimate goal here is the Great Bridge Square, but before you go there, you can head towards the Military Gate. Defeat all the enemies here and you'll get a Spirit of the Devils, which will allow Rachel to use a magic skill. Whether or not you want to bother with this is up to you, but the magic could come in very useful in the boss fight in the Great Bridge Square with...

Chapter 8 boss: Gamov

The old codger in the trenchcoat has plenty of tricks hidden in there. Not only does he have a mega-rapid-fire machinegun, but he's also got a very painful knife attack he'll use when Rachel gets in close. This makes it incredibly hard to damage him most of the time - he dodges projectiles, keeps you at a distance with the gunshots and punishes you if you stay in close range for too long. What's a girl to do?

Fortunately, when Rachel does get a hit in, it usually hits pretty hard. One strategy that may work well for you is trying to trick Gamov into dodging with aerial attacks, then quickly moving in for an attack in the brief moment of vulnerability afterwards. But no matter what you do, he won't be an easy nut to crack. Since we're not going to be seeing Rachel for a while after this and since she can get healing items cheaply anyway, feel free to spam your recovery items in order to repair the damage Gamov can cause. Patience goes a long way here and eventually, Rachel will emerge the victor.
