Everything you need to know about the Disney Plus price increase
Here's what's changed, and where
Is a Disney Plus price increase on the way? Has one already arrived? And hey, wasn't it cheaper last month? They're all good questions. Because we've got more streaming services vying for our cash than ever these days, being able to cut costs wherever possible is important. That's why the GamesRadar+ team and I have put together this guide on the new Disney Plus price. With years of coverage under our belt (we've been writing about Disney Plus in one way or another since before it launched in 2019), it's our job to know what's what.
Here's the long and short of it - yes, we've just had another Disney Plus price increase in the US. However, the good news is that the cost hasn't jumped up too much. In addition, that means another price hike is unlikely until 2025 at the earliest. Basically, we have time to get used to the new Disney Plus price before another surprise is dropped onto our plate.
To fill you in on everything you need to know about Disney Plus price increases (and how to beat them), here's all of the advice I can muster. Knowledge is power, after all.
Recent updates
October 22: This guide has been updated to reflect the latest Disney Plus price increase, which occurred earlier in the month. Analysis of when we can expect another price hike has also been included.
New Disney Plus price
A new Disney Plus price increase has just arrived. More specifically, it landed across the US and UK on October 17, 2024. This means we're unlikely to get another one any time soon, so fans on either side of the pond can breathe a sigh of relief.
As far as I can tell, things have remained stable everywhere else. With that in mind, here's everything that changed, and by how much, in your region:
US
- Basic, with ads: $9.99p/m (+$2)
- Standard, no ads: $15.99p/m (+$2)
- Annual, no ads: $159.99 (+$20)
- Disney Plus + Hulu with ads: $10.99p/m (+$1)
- Disney Plus + Hulu + ESPN Plus with ads: $16.99p/m (+$2)
- ESPN Plus + Disney Plus + Hulu, no ads: $26.99p/m (+$2)
UK
- Standard, with ads: £7.99p/m (+£1)
- Premium, no ads: £12.99p/m (+£2)
- Standard annual, no ads: £89.90 (+£10)
- Premium annual, no ads: £129.99 (+£20)
Canada
- No change
Australia
- No change
Expert analysis
I've been covering Disney Plus since before it launched in 2019, and while its price remained stable in the years after release, costs have been creeping up in the last 24 months or so. Well, in some parts of the world. Despite having had price increases in the past, Australia and Canada seemed to have been left unscathed in this year's round. Indeed, the US and UK were the only regions to get a hike so far as I can see.
However, it's not an unexpected jump in either case. This Disney Plus price increase remains in-line with the one we got back at the end of 2023, around the same time of year. Does that mean we'll get another price hike for Fall 2025 as a result? Potentially - I wouldn't count it out. However, I doubt we'd see anything more than a $1 / $2 hike based on the streaming service's current trajectory. There's a chance certain tiers will stay the same, too; not all subscriptions went up in 2024.

Next Disney Plus price increase
Because we've just had a Disney Plus price increase (on October 17 in both the US and UK), so more changes in the near future are unlikely. Well, unless you're in Australia and Canada - those regions experienced no price hike at all.
Basically? You don't need to worry about paying more for your Disney Plus sign-up any time soon if you're based in North America or the United Kingdom. Seeing as the last price increase was around this time last year, I doubt we'll see another until next Fall at the earliest.
Disney Plus price increase, and how to save money
There isn't a lot we can do to avoid Disney Plus price hikes when they arrive, but you can save money if you act before they land. So long as you get an annual bundle (available below) the day before the price increase comes into effect, you'll be able to save yourself plenty of money on an annual membership. Better still, you won't have to deal with any changes until the following year. That really is the best you can hope for.
Otherwise, you'll need to take advantage of Disney Plus bundles (or Black Friday Disney Plus deals, if they happen this year). You can get a look at those via our dedicated guide, or in the deals roundup below.
Considering giving Disney Plus to family or a loved one? If they haven't subscribed before, a Disney Plus gift card is probably your best bet. Looking for other streaming service offers, on the other hand? Don't miss our guides to the best HBO Max prices, Fubo TV costs, and Peacock TV costs.
