Deutschland takes protecting its minors’ fragile minds very seriously. Until recently, anything considered unsuitable for under-18s was placed on The Index. If your game was tarred with that brush, it couldn’t be advertised, sold openly in shops or given to anyone without photo ID proving their age. Some titles are banned completely, such as Manhunt, Postal 1 and 2 and the first three Mortal Kombatgames.
