I'm a big fan of books about video gaming, so when I first saw the Every Day is Play project on Kickstarter, I knew it was something I needed to get behind. With the campaign successfully funded and production completed, I received my backer's copy last week and eagerly unwrapped the 300 page cloth covered hardback edition of this weighty tome.
What I found inside certainly didn't disappoint. After kicking off with a gallery of anniversary covers from our colleagues over at Edge magazine, the book is chock full of interviews, biographies and features covering all sorts of topics, from retro gaming and hardware design to software development and cosplay. There's also a wealth of gorgeous imagery to pore over, from well known artists such as Wil Overton and eBoy, to fan art, and even drawings from the author's own children. Every Day is Play can now be ordered directly from Game Paused, and would make an ideal Christmas present for the gamer in your life. Also, I'm very sorry for dropping the C-bomb in October. Sorry.
