Ben Mendelsohn close to Star Wars spin-off Rogue One?
Star Wars spin-off Rogue One could be about to add another key player to its lineup, with Deadline reporting that Ben Mendelsohn is being considered for a leading role.
According to the report, the Australian actor is "circling" a part in the new film, although no details have been revealed as to who he might be playing. Should he sign on the dotted line he will line up alongside Felicity Jones, who recently signed on to head up the spin-off.
Plot details remain hazy at present, although the film is though to follow a band of mercenaries charged with stealing the blueprints for the original Death Star. The film is intended to be a standalone adventure, and will be the first of a series of spin-offs to arrive after The Force Awakens.
Mendelsohn is currently wowing audiences in Netflix show Bloodline, having made eye-catching appearances in the likes of Animal Kingdom, The Place Beyond The Pines and The Dark Knight Rises.
Gareth Edwards will direct the film, which is set to arrive in the UK and US on 16 December 2016.
