Benedict Cumberbatch joins Guillermo del Toro for Crimson Peak
Will star in haunted house thriller
Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak has added some A-list clout to its increasingly intriguing cast, with Benedict Cumberbatch the latest big name to join the production.
Emma Stone and Charlie Hunnam are already locked to head up the movie, with Variety confirming that Cumberbatch will also play a key role in proceedings.
Plot details remain scarce, although we do know that the film will see del Toro reignite his ongoing love affair with the traditional ghost story.
“It’s a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story,” said del Toro in an early interview concerning the film. “It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.”
Work on the film is set to begin in February 2014, with del Toro’s slate already incredibly busy for this year. Hopefully by then we’ll have a few more plot details to share with you…
