The 30 best movies of 2015
1. Mad Max: Fury Road
The story: Everyone's favourite road warrior Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) finds himself on the run with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), who along with a group of freed female prisoners, is trying to make her way to her childhood homeland across the desert.
Why you should watch it: Essentially a two-hour-long chase sequence, Mad Max: Fury Road is not only this year's best movie but also one of the greatest action movies ever. Its storyline may be slim, yet it crafts fully-formed characters - and most pleasingly, a strong female lead - through action beats and wordless gestures. George Miller returned in a big way, schooling every other director just how to shoot action with practical effects and a big landscape to unleash them in. Essential viewing.
