Bilbo Baggins takes centre stage in new Hobbit TV spot: watch now

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has unleashed another TV spot, and this time the focus is squarely on Martin Freeman’s Bilbo.

Given that the promo is barely half a minute long, it’s surprising that it manages to cram in plenty of previously unseen footage.

It further illustrates the tension between Bilbo and the Company of Dwarves, and the former’s ongoing discomfort at having been wrenched from his cosy home to go out adventuring.

And, as if you needed any more evidence, it’s clear that Martin Freeman has Bilbo Baggins down to an absolute T.

It’s consistent enough with Ian Holm’s portrayal of the character, without being a slavish impersonation, and Freeman looks to be bringing plenty of his own charm to Baggins.

There’s even the briefest of glimpses at Bilbo in Sting-swinging action!

Check out the new TV spot below:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in the UK on 13 December 2012. Sounds like an early Christmas present to us…
