Bill Murray discusses Ghostbusters 3

We all knew that getting Bill Murray to reprise the role of Dr Peter Venkman for a third Ghostbusters was going to be a bit of a mission.

But the actor confirmed his involvement with the sequel earlier this year – albeit amid reports that he would only be appearing as a ghost.

Well, Murray chatted with David Letterman this week and had a few things to say about his return to the series.

Let’s just say he wasn’t exactly a ball of unbridled enthusiasm. Sitting in a leg sling and a shiny purple top (your guess is as good as ours), he calls the idea of a third Ghostbusters a “nightmare. It is my nightmare.”

He goes on to add: “I told them if they figured a way to kill me off in the first reel I’d do it.”

Oddly enough, he has nothing but positive things to say about the video game, calling that “kind of fun” (probably because all he had to do was sit in a sound booth and cash a cheque). Which makes it all the more strange that he’s got such a downer for the film. Is it all just a Murray act? Figure it out for yourself below...

Ghostbusters 3 will be directed by Ivan Reitman, and written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. All four original Busters are returning to the movie, with Sigourney Weaver reportedly waiting in the wings.

Should Murray really have been called?
