According to Digital Spy , Bill Nighy will be appearing the Vincent Van Gogh episode of Matt Smith’s first season of Doctor Who.
That’s the tenth episode of the season, and the one written by Richard Curtis, who, of course, penned the movie Love, Actually, in which Nighy appeared. Nighy is no stranger to SF and fantasy – he’s appeared in all the Underworld movies as Viktor, was Davy Jones in Pirates Of The Caribbean II and III, and Slatribartfast in the movie version of The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy (one of the few good things about the films).
A set insider has told Digital Spy: "It was a real coup to get Bill Nighy in Doctor Who, especially in Richard Curtis's amazing episode. Bill plays a van Gogh expert with some similar fashion choices to The Doctor himself." The articles claims he will play the curator of a Vincent van Gogh exhibition, which ties in the fact that filming of the episode seemed to suggest that Van Gogh will at some point be brought to the modern day. Though it also suggests that Nighy’s role may also be a cameo.
