On 13 and 14 October, take yourself down to ThinkTank at Millennium Point, Curzon Street, Birmingham for the Birmingham International Comics Show. "We have signings, portfolio reviews, panels and competitions," says Producer and Event Director Shane Chebsey. "Plus there will be exclusive interviews with big name creators like Mike Mignola, Kevin Nowlan, and Paul Cornell – and all the usual free goodie bags, screenings, quizzes and other fun stuff."
The show is also promising things that other shows in the UK don't: for example, there's going to be a podcasting panel on the Sunday, which will feature an interview with Adi Granov about his involvement with the forthcoming Iron Man movie. There's will be a writers review panel allowing budding comics writers to pitch their story ideas to top professionals in the industry (and then receive feedback).
"Many publishers will be launching new products and titles at the show, some of which are still being kept a secret as they involve major licenses," continues Chebsey. "And for anyone wanting to get into comics creation we'll have a huge selection of independent UK publishers exhibiting, as well as larger companies like Rebellion, Titan and Markosia."
Fans will also get the chance to meet legendary creators like Mike McMahon, Dave Gibbons, Alan Davis and Mark Farmer who will be doing signings and sketching. For more information, visit the official website .
