Black Friday PS5 SSD deals are more important than ever, especially in an age where the biggest PS5 games yearn for more of your precious storage space. Every time November rears its head, you can expect to find big deals on storage solutions for your PS5, no matter the model, and 2025 is set to be no different.

Last year, we didn't see the kind of price drops on the best PS5 SSDs we had hoped, which put a lot of pressure on Black Friday, and the Cyber Monday that followed. Fortunately, last year's deals delivered, and we saw some of the speediest drives from Samsung, Corsair and Seagate in on the savings action. There weren't a lot of record-breaking lows but drives like the 2TB Samsung 990 Pro saw savings of $90. Even external drives like the Crucial X9 2TB were lower than their average price at some of the biggest retailers.

2025 looks to be the year that a ton of brand-new Gen 5 SSDs hit the market. This isn't of much use to PS5 players, but it could result in some of the best SSDs for gaming seeing record-breaking savings over this year's Black Friday - especially ones still compatible with the PS5. Until that time comes, we've used our years of covering Black Friday to outline what deals you can expect to see when this November rolls around.

FAQ

When will Black Friday PS5 SSD deals start?

Black Friday officially begins on Friday, November 28, a day earlier than last year. You can also expect the best Black Friday PS5 SSD deals to start popping up at the start of that week, and as early as October (if 2024 and 2023 are anything to go by). We recommend keeping an eye on offers from October onwards if you don't want to miss out on the biggest savings.

Where will the best Black Friday SSD deals be?

If you're looking for a new PS5 SSD during November 2025 then you'll likely find that all major tech retailers are offering amazing discounts on them. If we had to guess though, we'd place our best on the retailers below.

US Retailers:
Amazon: Wide range of brands and sizes on sale
BestBuy: Discounts on SSDs exclusive to BestBuy
Walmart: Deals on internal and portable SSDs of different sizes
Newegg: Money off of big brands like WD_Black

UK Retailers:
Amazon: Sales on all different brands and sizes
Currys: Money off of tons of solid state drive options
OverClockersUK: Sales on top brands like Seagate and WD
eBuyer: Discounts on a range of internal and external SSDs

Black Friday PS5 SSD deals - What to expect

WD Black SN850P close up in a PS5's SSD tray

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

2025 is looking like the year of Gen 5 SSDs. Launches of the latest SSDs for the PC market from brands like Samsung are iniment, which could hopefully result in the price of older Gen 4 seeing a steady drop.

We can't bet on that entirely, especially as 2024 wasn't the year for cheaper SSDs like we would have hoped. But big retailers discounting the stock of older SSDs to make room for the latest Gen 5 drives would make a lot of sense. Regardless, it's worth knowing that anyone looking to grab a PS5 SSD with an integreated heatsink will be expected to pay more than a drive without any cooling. We always recommend you get a heatsink when it comes to PS5 storage, however, and this Black Friday could make that a lot easier.

Last year, the WD Black SN850X 1TB was much cheaper than its heatsink integrated counter-part, which is to be expected. However, at the time you could pick it up and a heatsink seperately and still save cash. It's a lot easier to buy a PS5 SSD with cooling from the get-go, but this could be an ideal tactic for saving cash this November.

With it being so early on in the year, we don't quite know what the line-up of the best PS5 SSDs for 2025 are looking like. With that in mind, it's likely the biggest heavy hitters from 2024 could return this Black Friday, but hopefully bringing with them more record low price drops. Just like 2024, the WD Black SN850X is a prime contender to make an appearance over Black Friday, as is the Seagate FireCuda 530 if the stock can hold steady for long enough, and the Samsung 990 Pro will be one to watch - especially as attention shifts to the new Samsung 9100 Pro.

The PS5 Pro will be out for just over year during Black Friday 2025, and it could be a better alternative for those desperate for more storage. The Pro model saw discounts over Black Friday 2024 despite launching around the same time, so it's more than likely we could see bigger deals on the Pro model, including new console bundles. Just with the MSRP for a Pro being a whopping $700, it'll likely still be pricier than picking up a 2TB seperately, no matter the discount.

Last year's best PS5 SSD Deals

WD Black P40 SSD 1TB | $139.99$99.99 at AmazonSave $40

WD Black P40 SSD 1TB | $139.99 $99.99 at Amazon
Save $40 - This is one of the best external SSDs you can get your hands on, with up to 2,000MB/s speeds and, it's even designed with your PS5 in mind. During last year's Black Friday, the drive didn't drop to the lowest we've ever spotted, but the last time it was cheaper was back in June 2024, so this $40 discount was the best there has been for a while.

Buy it if:

✅ You want a top-tier SSD
✅ You love yourself some RGB lighting

Don't buy it if:

❌ 2TB isn't enough for all your downloads

UK: £150.76 at Amazon

WD Black SN770 1TB$129.99$62.99 at Best BuySave $67 -

WD Black SN770 1TB | $129.99 $62.99 at Best Buy
Save $67 - While this SSD is never as expensive as $130, a discounted price of $63 was a great deal during last year's Black Friday sales. It wasn't the latest and best drive out there at the time, but it was still decent and definitely worth considering if you were looking for a budget upgrade to your PS5's storage.

Buy it if:

✅ You don't mind a slightly older Gen 4 drive
✅ You are on a budget but don't mind buying a heatsink separately.

Don't buy it if:

❌ You want the fastest sequential speeds in the category.

UK: £52.98 at Amazon

Corsair MP600 Elite 1TB | $104.99 $79.99 at AmazonSave $25 -

Corsair MP600 Elite 1TB | $104.99 $79.99 at Amazon
Save $25 - This is by far and away one of the best SSDs we tested in 2024, so to see it at a reasonable price during last year's Black Friday made it even more appealing.

Buy it if:

✅ You want one of the best SSDs of 2024
✅ 1TB is enough
✅ Fast performance is important to you

Don't buy it if:

❌ You already own a heatsink

UK: £69.99 at Amazon

WD Black SN850X 1TB | $93.99 $79.99 at AmazonSave $14 -

WD Black SN850X 1TB | $93.99 $79.99 at Amazon
Save $14 - This SN850X was much cheaper without its heatsink hat last November. At the time, even if you bought a heatsink separately, you could still save money compared to the integrated model that was also on offer during the Black Friday sales.

Buy it if:

✅ You already own a heatsink
✅ You'd like the same brand of SSD that Mark Cerny uses
✅ You want minimal fuss

Don't buy it if:

❌ You need more than 1TB

UK: £69.95 at Amazon

Lexar SL660 BLAZE Portable SSD 1TB |$129.99$89.99 at AmazonSave $40 -

Lexar SL660 BLAZE Portable SSD 1TB | $129.99 $89.99 at Amazon
Save $40 - Not everyone needs some RGB lighting with their SSD, but for those that do this Lexar PS5 SSD was 31% off at Amazon last November. This external drive had only been cheaper once before in July 2024, but it didn't stay at its lowest-ever price for long. This new low price of $40 off was only for a limited time at Amazon, so if you wanted something to transfer PS5 games over for under $100, this was the ideal Black Friday 2024 pick up.

Buy it if:
✅ You want an external SSD
✅ You love RGB lighting
✅ You want a portable SSD solution for your PS5

Don't buy it if:

❌ You need more than 1TB
❌ You want to do more than just transfer games

Samsung 990 Pro 1TB w/ heatsink | $108.88 $97.95 at AmazonSave $11 -

Samsung 990 Pro 1TB w/ heatsink | $108.88 $97.95 at Amazon
Save $11 - While this isn't technically discounted that much, based on the average price of this SSD (which we reckon is the best for PS5s!), you were getting a decent deal when this saving dropped over Black Friday 2024. This deal also included a heatsink, saving you from having to buy one separately.

Buy it if:

✅ You don't want to buy a separate heatsink
✅ You want the best SSD for your PS5 but don't need loads of extra storage

Don't buy it if:

❌ You need much more than 1TB

UK: Out of stock at Amazon

Crucial X9 2TB | $148.99 $109.99 at AmazonSave $39 -

Crucial X9 2TB | $148.99 $109.99 at Amazon
Save $39 - An external SSD like this will allow you to store loads of games without having to delete and download them again. You won't be able to launch PS5 games from this drive, though. In this deal we spotted last Black Friday, you were getting it nearly $40 cheaper than its then average Amazon price.

Buy it if:

✅ An external drive is all you need
✅ You need 2TB of space
✅ You've previously used external HDDs

Don't buy it if:

❌ You want to launch PS5 games from it

UK: £91.99 at Amazon

Kingston Fury Renegade 2TB w/ heatsink | $212.99 $139.99 at AmazonSave $73 -

Kingston Fury Renegade 2TB w/ heatsink | $212.99 $139.99 at Amazon
Save $73 - The Kingston Fury Renegade wasn't the newest PS5-compatible SSD on the market last November, but we rated it very highly and it was available at a great price - it's lowest ever, in fact during Black Friday 2024!

Buy it if:

✅ You want an integrated heatsink
✅ You don't quite need 4TB

Don't buy it if:

❌ You only need a small amount of extra storage
❌ You fancy one of the slightly cheaper 2TB SSDs featured here

UK: £123.99 at Amazon

Samsung 990 PRO w/ Heatsink SSD 2TB | $199 $159 at WalmartSave $40 -

Samsung 990 PRO w/ Heatsink SSD 2TB | $199 $159 at Walmart
Save $40 -
During last year's Black Friday sales the Samsung 990 Pro SSD was 36% off at Amazon. It wasn't the lowest it had ever been, at the time but a huge $90 off one of the best Gen 4 drives was hard to ignore, especially for PS5 owners.

Buy it if:

✅ You prefer the heatsink attached
✅ You want a great value SSD for the PS5

Don't buy it if:

❌ You need more storage space

Seagate Game Drive NVMe Internal SSD with Heatsink 2TB | $259.99 $159.99 at Best BuySave $100 -

Seagate Game Drive NVMe Internal SSD with Heatsink 2TB | $259.99 $159.99 at Best Buy
Save $100 - This Seagate SSD was still $10 away from its lowest-ever price, but $100 off its MSRP of $259.99 was still worthwhile during 2024's Black Friday sales. The SSD hadn't been any cheaper in 2023, otherwise, it's bounced between $170 and $195. This is the first time it had ever been $159.99 and for 2TB of extra storage for your PS5, it was a Black Friday deal worth catching.

Buy it if:

✅ You prefer the heatsink attached
✅ You want an officially licensed PS5 SSD
✅ You want a dependable performance

Don't buy it if:

❌ You need more storage than 2TB
❌ You'd prefer the Seagate FireCuda 530 SSD

UK: £159.07 at Amazon

Samsung T9 Portable SSD 2TB | $299.99 $182.96 at AmazonSave $117 -

Samsung T9 Portable SSD 2TB | $299.99 $182.96 at Amazon
Save $117 - External drives are a dime a dozen but the Samsung T9 Portable SSD brings 2TB worth of storage with impressive speeds up to 2,000MB/s. It wasn't quite at the lowest price it's ever been on Amazon over last year's Black Friday, but it wasn't far off.

Buy it if:

✅ You want to offload all your favorite screen captures
✅ You're okay with transferring PS5 games and save files

Don't buy it if:

❌ You want to play games right off the drive

UK: £169.98 at Amazon

Samsung 990 Pro 4TB |$464.99$269.99 at Best BuySave $195

Samsung 990 Pro 4TB | $464.99 $269.99 at Best Buy
Save $195 - 4TB is arguably overkill for the PS5, but if you wanted a drive that would mean you never need to delete a game again, this is the one to go for in 2024. The Samsung 990 Pro was our favorite SSD for PS5 at the time, so seeing it well under $300 during last year's Black Friday sales was worth the excitement we feel.

Buy it if:

✅ You never want to delete a game again
✅ You can swing the budget for it
✅ You want the best SSD going

Don't buy it if:

❌ You don't want to add your own heatsink
❌ You don't care about read/write speeds

UK: £224.99 at Currys

Corsair MP600 Pro 4TB | $444.99 $289.99 at AmazonSave $155 -

Corsair MP600 Pro 4TB | $444.99 $289.99 at Amazon
Save $155 - The 2TB version of this excellent SSD was also discounted during Black Friday 2024, but if you had a really big game library then this absolutely massive amount of extra space was a great solution. This wasn't quite the lowest price ever, but it was the cheapest this SSD has been all of 2024.

Buy it if:

✅ You want a convenient integrated heatsink
✅ Your game library is bursting at the seams
✅ You're looking for fast performance

Don't buy it if:

❌ 4TB is way too much

UK: £299.99 at Amazon
