Blade Runner 2: Ryan Gosling's excited, Rutger Hauer not so much

While the reaction to Blade Runner 2 has been mixed (at best), few have had many complaints about the cast; In addition to the returning Harrison Ford, the sequel will also star Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, and Ryan Gosling. While promoting The Nice Guys, Gosling took a second to talk about why he's excited to start work on the sequel:

"As a fan of the film, the fact that Ridley and Harrison wanted to extend that story and keep going was exciting enough", Gosling told IGN. "And then the idea of getting to be an actor involved in that in some way is really... I kinda can't believe it".

Comparatively, Rutger Hauer - who starred in the 1982 sci-fi classic - is less enthused about another Blade Runner film, although he is curious to see what Ridley Scott and co come up with; "I don’t understand why they’re calling it Blade Runner if they have a new project", Hauer told Gizmodo UK. "I’m curious what Ridley [Scott, now the sequel’s producer] will do. The director [Denis Villeneuve] is a very interesting director so...Let’s put it this way – I hope it’s better!". Me too...

Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, and Harrison Ford, Blade Runner 2 will be released in cinemas on October 6, 2017.
