Blade: the spin-off trilogy?
Stephen Norrington says he’s planning a return…
The Blade trilogy, then: solid start, great second act, turd of a third. But now original director Stephen Norrington appears to be planning a prequel.
Talking to Comics2Film, the man also responsible for The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, has confirmed he's working on the project.
To whit: Norrington has an idea for a spin-off that sprang from Stephen Dorrf’s mind and "has evolved into a very interesting story."
But while Dorff went on record to talk about the film – or possibly trilogy – featuring his villainous Deacon from the original Blade, Norrington now says that he's moved away from the original idea, but is still tied to the characters. "The linkage to Blade is still big in the equation."
Still, we’re not sure if this might happen. Norrington is busy working on his revamp of The Crow and the new plans are still in very tentative stages.
It's also unlikely Wesley Snipes will return, particularly given his taxation issues and the fact that he was a big diva on the set of Blade: Trinity.
We’ll be watching this one as it develops…
