Which of the upcoming crop of superhero movies are you most looking forward to?
Will Salmon: I can't wait for the Captain America movie. I like my superheroes to be less, well, super. And while Steve Rogers is hardly your average Joe, he’s a more relatable character than most comic heroes. And who doesn’t enjoy a spot of Nazi-bashing? There are shades of Hellboy and Indy in that trailer, and that’s very tantalising. On the other hand, I couldn’t give a monkeys about Thor . There are too many be-cloaked berks in that trailer. Good on Kenneth Brannagh for doing something different, but the shadow of Ang Lee’s worthy but agonisingly dull Hulk hangs over this one for me.
Troo Topham: I’m really looking forward to Thor . It’s not a comic I ever got into – the whole Avengers side of Marvel’s line left me pretty cold – but maybe this will give me the edge when watching the film. I won’t have any preconceptions, so I can get excited at it purely on the basis of the snazzy promotional photos and trailers. Which are very snazzy! X-Men: First Class just leaves me cold. I can’t imagine that I’ll even bother going to see it after the fiasco that was X3 and the peculiar chronology-bending miasma of mutants they seem to be smooshing together into this one. I might watch it on DVD in a couple of years when it’s £3 from Tesco.
Narin Bahar: Ant-Man . Yep, we’ve got Avengers assembling all over the place, but after the quirky joy of Scott Pilgrim my hopes are high that Edgar Wright can make Marvel’s tiniest titan punch well above his weight. And Joe Cornish (from Adam and … fame) is co-writing, which makes it worth the price of a ticket alone. . . .............. ................. ................................... ................. .................. ......................................................................................................
