Bond 23 has suspended development
Ongoing MGM financial crisis to blame...
And it was going so well.
Despite the rebooted, rebuffed James Bond franchise giving the character and the film series a creative, adrenaline junkie kick up the backside, the 23rd Bond flick has been suspended.
Producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions have announced that the next Bond flick has been “indefinitely” put on hold.
They said:
“Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely.
“We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23 .”
EON have been responsible for 22 of the Bond films since 1962, with Wilson and Broccoli taking on the franchise in 1995.

So it looks like Daniel Craig will have to wait a bit before he can don the tux again. Not that the producers are giving any indication that the film or the series is dead and done - merely resting.
Hopefully MGM will sort themselves out soon enough. And with Ridley and Tony Scott reportedly about to enter the fracas and bail MGM out, we imagine the action director Brits will have Bond 23 high on their list of films to fast-track into production.
