Ever wish there was a local watering hole near you that has good food, stiff drinks, and over 90 retro arcade and pinball games? Yeah, me too. Luckily for the fine folks of Portland, OR, Ground Kontrol has been providing these important life necessities since 1999.
There is something for everyone with theme nights like Rock Band Tuesdays, a karaoke-fest for gamers, and monthly events like No Pun-Intendo, a comedy showcase. I could hardly believe the huge selection of vintage games, and I'm embarrassed to tell you just how many quarters I pumped into the Galaga machine. Also, I'm pretty sure I never got asked out on again because of the Street Fighter Alpha 3 thrashing I gave to my poor unsuspecting date. I probably shouldn't have thrown his hat on the floor and yelled "In your face, Four Eyes!" Oops.
Anyhoo, if you ever find yourself in the City of Roses, make sure to spend an evening with the fine folk of Ground Kontrol. Sore thumbs, a hangover, and an empty wallet have never been this much fun.
