Borderlands 2 "Captain Scarlett" DLC lands October 16
Pirate expansion will cost $10 or $30 in four-pack season pass
The leaks are legit: Borderlands 2's vault hunters will head to the deserts of Oasis in the first campaign expansion DLC "Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty" next week. Gearbox Software confirmed to the Associated Press that the expansion pack will drop on October 16.
While pirates and deserts seem to go together about as well as ninjas and golf courses, the crew will be able to get around the dunes and squash new foes like sand worms with the help of a Star Wars-esque sand skiff.
"You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there's no water," Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford said. "It's all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there's the legend of a treasure."
Pitchford said the new content will be accessible for players who have not yet finished the main game as well as those working on multiple play-throughs. The individual pack costs $10, and is also available through the Borderlands 2 season pass which includes four upcoming DLC expansions for $30 (but doesn't include new paid DLC character Gaige the Mechromancer.)
