Borderlands 2 bug resets some Xbox 360 player progress
UPDATE: Gearbox says it's working to squash the bug
UPDATE: Gearbox has been "working steadily" to fix a bug which has reset some players' Badass Rank. The Mechromancer DLC and associated patch are unrelated to the issue, the developer says. The original story follows below.
Borderlands 2 players getting ready to take the new Mechromancer class released this morning out for a spin take heed: Videogamer reports some players have complained of losing both ranks and items after installing the patch preparing for the new DLC. The issues appear to be contained to the Xbox 360 version of the game.
A patch paving the way for the new class was released this morning, a week earlier than its previously planned release on October 16. Some players complained that their Badass Rank in the game has been rolled back to level 1, gold keys have been lost, and customization options for characters have been reset.
A 2K Games spokesperson responded to our request for comment and this article will be updated when the company provides further information.
Gaige the Mechromancer brings a dedicated pet class to Borderlands 2, as well as both casual- and hardcore-friendly skill builds. She's available to play free for players who pre-ordered the game and costs $10 for everyone else.
