Brad Pitt starring in The Lost City Of Z
James Gray will direct the true story
Brad Pitt has signed on to star in The Lost City Of Z, which he’s producing and We Own The Night helmer James Gray has agreed to direct.
Paramount, which is working with Pitt’s Plan B company, will throw down the money to make the film, reports Variety.
Gray is adapting David Grann’s nonfiction book about British soldier/spy Percy Fawcett, who left Victorian society to explore the Amazon.
Cultural obsession
Fawcett became obsessed with an advanced civilisation he labelled Z, which he believed dwelt in the depths of the jungle.
He took his son along on a mission to find it in 1925 and was never heard from again.
"This is a terrific opportunity to do something entirely different for me," Gray says. "It is a story that will be told with an epic scale, with a main character who is larger than life."
George Lucas, the basis for the next Indiana Jones film just walked in the door…
