Bradley Cooper in talks for Lance Armstrong movie
Hangover actor interested in biopic
Bradley Cooper is in talks to play Lance Armstrong in a forthcoming biopic that will be produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company.
“He sent me an email and we’ve been talking,” said Abrams in an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Producers Guild Awards.
Cooper had previously expressed an interest in portraying the cyclist, in an interview with BBC News , “I remember thinking, that would be a great character, I'd love to play that character. I would love to do something, I think he's pretty fascinating.”
Cooper’s currently riding high after his Oscar-nominated turn in Silver Linings Playbook .
Armstrong has been in headlines recently after being stripped of his Tour de France titles for doping offences. His story is a remarkable one, as he originally won those titles after recovering from cancer.
The Abrams-produced film will be based on forthcoming book, Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong by Juliet Macur.
With such an intriguing story and the based-on-fact angle, could Cooper be on for another glut of nominations? You can be sure there will be whispers.
J.J. Abrams is looking to be exceedingly busy of late. As well as putting the finishing touches onto Star Trek Into Darkness and exec-producing numerous TV shows, he recently signed up to direct Star Wars: Episode VII .
