Bridget Monaghan added to Eagle Eye
And Kevin Smith responds to Rosario Dawson…
When you bandy about the name Steven Spielberg as the man who dreamt up your film’s story, it’s easy to find yourself a cast. And it doesn’t hurt that director DJ Caruso has already filled Eagle Eye with his Disturbia lead Shia LaBeouf.
But now he’s also found one – and possibly two – more thesps for the movie. Bridget Monaghan has signed up to play a single mother who teams up with LaBeouf when they are framed as terrorists and must join a cell plotting a political assassination.
And while we’re on the subject, Rosario Dawson has also talked about the film to MTV when she confirmed she’d agreed to take on a role. Which came as something of a shock to Kevin Smith, who had written his latest film, Zack And Miri Make A Porno with her In mind. “It’s going to be a really interesting film. I don’t think I’m going to be a part of it. He wrote it for me, but I’m just signing on to do Eagle Eye and that’s going to be shooting from November to March,” she blabbed.
Still all credit to Smith – he bounced back easily from the disappointment. Admitting that allowing a shift of shooting schedule to accommodate his as-yet-unnamed chosen male lead cost him Dawson, Smith covered the issue on his blog: “I’ll miss her, to be sure, but spin control dictates that I’ve gotta say maybe this is a good thing: certainly for Rosario (why be in the donkey show guy’s next picture when you’re invited into Camp Spielberg?) and maybe even for me and Zack And Miri. I’ve never worked with our (potential) male lead before, so it might be nice to have a female lead I’ve also never worked with before.”
At least there are still a few good sports left in Hollywood…
