Bruce Campbell talks Ash Vs. Evil Dead TV series
Later this year, original Evil Dead trio - director Sam Raimi, producer Bob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell - will reunite for a TV sequel series entitled Ash Vs. Evil Dead. Set to debut on the Starz network, the half-hour comedy will pick up with the titular anithero thirty years after his final battle with the Deadites.
That brief overview alone is an exciting enough prospect to have us reaching for our boomsticks in celebration! However, now the folks at Dread Central have clued us in to a more detailed plot synopsis after reading the pilot script:
“In it we are introduced to a nomadic Ash, a figure who’s not only haunted by traumatic memories but also terrorized by the unwelcome continuance of Deadite attacks, which have followed him to the myriad Midwestern trailer parks he’s been forced to call home. In an effort to eke out an existence and in keeping with his previous choice of career, the character spends his days working at Ted’s Superclub as a stock room trainee and, in true Ash fashion, his evenings chasing skirt in roadside bars.”
“I’m bringing everything to the table, “ said Campbell as he fleshed out a little more about Ash, and what we should expect from him all these years later. “It’s a feisty version of Ash, who’s grizzled and just wants to be left alone.”
While the show is still in the casting stages, the ambitious scope set out by Raimi will see the series expand to a full five seasons. “It's an epic tale," Campbell added. "How could you not?"
Groovy.
Ash Vs. Evil Dead debuts later this year on Starz.
