Bryan Cranston signs on to musical Rock Of Ages
Will play the LA Mayor
Bryan Cranston has signed on to co-star in Adam Shankman’s big screen adaptation of stage musical Rock Of Ages .
The actor, who’s best known for bringing the funny in Malcolm In The Middle and kicking serious booty in Breaking Bad , will play LA’s mayor in the film.
Hairspray director Shankman evidently knows he’s scored a massive coup for his film with the casting, Tweeting:
“So honored! Bryan Cranston is joining the cast of #rockofagesmovie! LA has a mayor!”
Cranston also recently signed on to play the main villain in the upcoming Total Recall reboot, which sees Colin Farrell taking over the hero role once championed by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In Rock Of Ages , Cranston joins a pleasingly eclectic cast of Hollywood big names and musical stars that includes Tom Cruise, Amy Adams, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Diego Bonet, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Rock Of Ages opens 1 June, 2012.
