Bryan Cranston stars in the first trailer for Trumbo
The first trailer has appeared online for Trumbo, Jay Roach’s comedy drama about renowned 1940s screenwriter Douglas Trumbo (Bryan Cranston), who famously refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee, and was subsequently blacklisted from Hollywood as a result.
Not that Trumbo was about to go quietly, however, settling on the risky course of producing his screenplays under an array of pseudonyms, racking up Academy Award-winning work on Roman Holiday and The Brave One into the bargain. Take that, The Man!

It’s a cracking story, and Cranston seems the perfect choice to balance the humour and intensity of the title role. Throw in an ace supporting cast including the likes of Louis C.K., Helen Mirren, Diane Lane and John Goodman, and awards could well be in the offing… Directed by Roach, Trumbo will open in the US on November 6 2015 and the UK on January 22 2016.
