Cage and Fiddy glove up
Oscar nabber and rapper sign on for prison boxing drama
Despite the critical panning dished out on Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, it seems to have done Curtis ’50 cent’ Jackson’s fledgling acting career no harm whatsoever.
The latest script to tweak the bullet-cushion’s interest is based on a documentary about boxing coach Billy ‘The Kid’ Roth. The doc was aired in 2003 and one of its producers, Nicolas Cage, is now lining up to star in the lead role – with Fiddy as Roth’s tip for the boxing championship.
The only sticking point is, Roth’s new protégé is an inmate at a Louisiana state prison, where the ex prize-fighter turned trainer spent more than 40 years training penned-in pugilists.
Neil Tolkin, writer of The Emperor’s Club and License To Drive has been installed for scribbling duties.
