Cannes 2011: Bryce Dallas Howard on 50/50

Bryce Dallas Howard has spoken to Total Film about her next acting project - upcoming comedy 50/50 .

Originally titled I’m With Cancer , the film is the latest offering from Superbad creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Howard is in Cannes promoting her first film as producer, Restless - another film dealing with the effects of terminal illness.

But while the two movies deal with a similar subject matter, the actress points out that they couldn’t be more different...

50/50 is a comedy,” she explains. “I shouldn’t say it’s a buddy comedy because it’s not farcical, and it’s based on a true story, but it’s viewing that experience through a very truthful lens of humour.

“I would say Restless is viewing the experience of death through a lens of irreverence and playfulness and innocence, so they’re tonally very different kinds of movies!”

Howard will be co-starring with Rogen himself in the film, as well as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anna Kendrick and Anjelica Huston.

50/50 will be released this autumn.
