Captain America: The Winter Soldier looking for two very physical villains
Frank Grillo screen-testing for one of them
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is continuing to recruit for its ensemble cast, with word emerging that Marvel is looking to fill not one but two villainous roles.
Apparently these villains will be “very physical”, with Warrior star Frank Grillo confirming via Twitter that he has undergone a screen test to play one of them.
“See Ya LA. It was a good trip. Marvel was a lot of fun. Be cool if it works out. #CaptainAmerica” tweeted the star, before following that message up with, “WOW. Badass fans that Marvel has. Fierce muthas. #bones”.
Now, seasoned Marvel fans might recognise that last hashtag for what it is, but just in case anyone missed it, radio host Matthew Aaron confirmed that he would be talking about Grillo concerning his screen test for… Crossbones.
Crossbones is a bruising henchman of the Red Skull, a lethal marksman who sports the hideous skull-like mask from which he takes his name. Does this mean the Red Skull himself will be reappearing? We never did see him die…
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open in the US on 4 April 2014, with a UK date to be confirmed.
