Carey Mulligan to work with the Coen brothers and Spike Jonze

Lone Scherfig’s An Education launched Carey Mulligan’s career, securing her position as one of the most sought after young actresses around today.

Now Carey has caught the attention of our two favourite brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, and the super-cool Spike Jonze.

Mulligan is on track to play the female lead in Inside Llewyn Davis , the Coen bro’s story about a 60s folk musician.

Specific details of Carey’s role are sparse, but there’s a possibility it might involve singing, which isn't great news for those of us who have seen Shame .

Information about her role in Spike Jonze's new project is also hard to come by, but it has been confirmed that she will star alongside Joaquin Phoenix.

Jonze’s project is a satire, centering on world leaders meeting to discuss major issues ranging from oil prices to imminent war.

So it seems that Mulligan will soon be adding to the hip cred she gained with Drive .

But we'll see her first in a more familiar role; Daisy in F.Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, which is scheduled for release in 2012.
