Carla Gugino joins Watchmen
She’s playing Silk Spectre…
Zach Snyder has been busy gathering the cast for his adaptation of Alan Moore’s legendary Watchmen graphic novel. He announced the likes of Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman and Billy Crudup at Comic Con, but now he’s tracked down one of the other leading players in the story.
Carla Gugino, last seen in Sin City and Night At The Museum, will join the cast as Sally Jupiter, a burlesque dancer who also happens to be Silk Spectre, one of the early members of the Minute Men team, the crime-battling heroes at the core of the Watchmen story. Jupiter is the mother of Malin Ackerman’s Laurie, who also takes on the mantle of the Spectre under pressure from her mother.
The role will require Gugino to portray the character across varying eras – but we definitely know she can bring the sex appeal. Snyder will start shooting this autumn in Vancouver.
