According to The Hollywood Reporter , Catherine Keener, Adam Brody, Alison Janney and Whip It star Alia Shawkat are all set to join Hugh Laurie for a veritable who’s who of indie acting talent.
Directed by former Entourage helmer Julian Farino, The Oranges stars Laurie as a middle-aged husband who becomes romantically involved with the daughter ( Gossip Girl ’s Leighton Meester) of a family friend, causing no end of grief for the rest of his brood.
Brody is lined up to play Laurie’s son, who also takes a shine to Meester, with Shawkat and Keener pencilled in as sister and mother respectively. Janney will round off an impressive ensemble as Meester’s mum.
The Oranges will begin filming at the end of the month, and with a barrel-full of family strife coupled with a starry cast, we’re hoping for The Ice Storm with laughs. Fingers crossed!
