Charity book Behind The Sofa will be reissued by Gollancz on Thursday 31 October
The book was originally self-published by Steve Berry after he witnessed the devastating effects of Alzheimer's on his mother Janet. A life-long Doctor Who fan, Steve approached former stars, writers and crew as well as celebrities (and the occasional journalist, such as SFX 's own editor ) to ask them to share their personal memories of the show.
Gollancz's new edition has bonus contributions including Bernard Cribbins, Sophia Myles and Lindsay Duncan as well as former Who scriptwriter turned bestselling novelist Ben Aaronovitch. The book also features illustrations from Doctor Who magazine artist Ben Morris, who also designed the original edition.
Steve will be donating 100% of his royalties from the book to Alzheimer’s Research UK, which is also one of Orion, Gollancz’s parent company, company charities for 2013.
