Chadwick Boseman hints at Black Panthers big-screen introduction
Chadwick Boseman recently took part in an Actors on Actors session, in which he discussed his forthcoming role as Black Panther, hinting that the character will be introduced on the big-screen before his own standalone movie arrives.
The star was asked by Logan Lerman whether Black Panther has a director yet, which led Boseman to drop a hint as to when we might first see him in the role…
“There’s a director on the movies [in which] I’m introduced, but not for Black Panther,” teases Boseman. “Just being a part of that discussion is huge. You know, you’re reading the comic books and you have ideas about how that’s gonna happen and you can discuss that.”
Could it be, then, that we’ll see Black Panther in the next Avengers outing? One to speculate over there, but in the meantime, Boseman is just thrilled to have bagged the role.
“I’m beyond excited,” says Boseman. “It’s like to the point where you feel numb and then your mind goes off into, ‘Ok, how do I achieve that?’ But I think the great thing about it is that this actual character is unique in a lot of ways.”
“I can’t think of another character that’s like the leader of a nation and is a superhero at the same time. There are a lot of different ways this story can go, you know, and ways that they can do it, so I’m really just excited about how it fits into the bigger picture of what Marvel is doing.”
Black Panther will open in the US on 3 November 2017, with a UK date yet to be confirmed.
