Channing Tatum hints Gambits first appearance will be in solo movie
Channing Tatum has been discussing his new role within the X-Men universe as Gambit, and has suggested that he will make his bow as the character in a dedicated solo movie, as opposed to a cameo in another X-Men title.
With the Gambit movie currently slated to arrive just five months after X-Men: Apocalypse, it has widely been assumed that Tatum would show up in that film, if only briefly. However, Tatum says he doesn’t want the character to appear on screen before the audience is good and ready…
“I don’t think I wanna introduce Gambit until you can really explain who Gambit is,” said Tatum, after responding to a question from MTV about the character’s potential appearance in Apocalypse with a textbook, “I don’t think I’m at liberty to say.” Nice and clear, then…
We’d be surprised if Gambit didn’t at least show up in a post-trailer sting, although with the sheer volume of mutants already set to appear in Apocalypse, there is a risk that the character could be somewhat lost. We’ll find out for sure when that film opens in the UK on 19 May 2016 and the US on 27 May 2016.
