Channing Tatum may direct Magic Mike 2
Sequel could be a road movie
Magic Mike ’s blend of romance, baby oil and glistening, washboard stomachs proved surprisingly popular at the box office, and inevitably, talk has already begun surrounding a possible sequel.
Channing Tatum has already said he would be open to a return, and is apparently in the running to direct the film, alongside Steven Soderbergh’s long-term producer, Reid Carolin.
Indeed, Carolin has revealed that he has already begun discussions with Tatum as to the direction a potential sequel could take, and apparently, a road movie is the order of the day.
“You know, we are talking a lot about it,” says Carolin. “We have a story, and it is really ridiculous and fun. It's a road movie sort of thing, where a bunch of strippers get back together. It's more of a broad comedy. I don't know whether it will happen or not.”
Tatum is currently in the process of transferring the original film into a Broadway show, but once that project is up and underway, don’t be surprised to see him slipping back into the thong for another go-around on the big screen...
