Chris Chalk joining Gotham while Jada Pinkett Smith departs
It’s one in and one out for the cast of Gotham, with Chris Chalk set to join the show and Jada Pinkett Smith about to depart.
Chalk will appear in episode 21 as Lucius Fox, memorably played by Morgan Freeman in the Dark Knight trilogy, with an option to return already pencilled in for the series’ second season.
However, Jada Pinkett Smith will not be returning as Fish Mooney next time out, despite her character being one of the primary antagonists of round one.
“I don’t think so, no,” said Smith when asked about a potential return. “I signed for a year, and the year is up. But, there are some great things coming ahead on Gotham - believe you me, there’s a lot of good stuff coming.”
Smith didn’t reveal exactly how her character might be written out, but an official statement from the show’s producers teases that, “Fish Mooney’s storyline takes a lot of interesting twists and turns into the finale of season one of Gotham.” We shall see…
