Chris Hemsworth in talks for racing biopic Rush
Could play Brit driver James Hunt
Chris Hemsworth has entered negotiations to play British racer James Hunt in Formula One biopic Rush .
A ‘70s-set racing drama penned by The Queen ’s Peter Morgan, Rush follows the rivalry between Hunt and three-time champion Niki Lauda.
Hemsworth has apparently spied the role as a possible lay-by on the way to Thor 2 , which has been scheduled to hit cinemas in July 2013.
The Aussie actor could do worse than getting out of the fantasy fast-lane – he’s also signed on to Snow White And The Huntsma n, meaning a grunt-level racing biopic could be just the ticket for some credibility in the drama stakes.
Director Ron Howard is currently considering taking on Rush as his next directing gig. No doubt his commitment to the project will depend on where he stands with the epic Dark Tower adaptation.
