Chris Pratt's Star-Lord is probably going to show up in Avengers: Infinity War

The worldwide press tour for Captain America: Civil War has begun, and that means plenty of questions - and possibly a few answers - about the upcoming films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Avengers: Infinity War movies are easily the biggest films on that slate, and when its co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo were asked about which characters they were most excited to work with they hinted at an appearance from Chris Pratt's Star-Lord.

"The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that’s happened before in the MCU so you don’t want to get into spoilers but I’m a big fan of what James Gunn has done", Russo said to ComicBook.com. "Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you’d be very excited."

You've got to hand it to the Russo bros; they have mastered the art of talking about Marvel films without explicitly admitting anything. This is probably as close to a "Yes, Star-Lord is definitely appearing in Avengers: Infinity War" confirmation as we're likely to get until the films are released, and it makes sense. The Avengers and the Guardians both have beef with Thanos, and if - or, probably more accurately, when - he gets control of the infinity gauntlet, that's a situation that will necessitate an impromptu team-up.

Oh, and Joe Russo also confirmed that Thor will be involved in Infinity War too; "I’m excited to work with Thor. They’re doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he’s gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he’s gonna have a real emotional motivation after that."

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and probably starring anyone ever involved in a Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 is due to arrive in UK cinemas on April 27, 2018 before opening in US theatres on May 4th, 2018.
