Christian Bale set to star in Everest
Dark Knight actor set for real-life mountaineering tale
Christian Bale is preparing to add another role to his already brimming slate, with The Hollywood Reporter dropping the news that he’s set to star in Everest.
The Batman actor will play Rob Hall, a New Zealander mountaineer with Adventure Consultants, who led a tragic attempt to reach the summit of the highest mountain on Earth.
Hall was an experienced climber, having previously scaled Everest four times. Journalist John Krakauer, who participated in the expedition, documented the events of the fateful 1996 climb in his book, Into Thin Air: A Personal Account Of The Everest Disaster .
Contraband director Baltasar Kormákur is attached to helm, and will be shooting in his native Iceland.
Working Title and Universal are behind Everest , with production scheduled to start during summer 2013.
Bale has recently completed work on two Terrence Malick films, as well as Scott Crazy Heart Cooper’s Out Of The Furnace . He’s also one name on the starry cast list of David O. Russell’s untitled Abscam movie, alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.
