Christoph Waltz says his Bond character is not the head of SPECTRE
Christoph Waltz has dropped a hint regarding the identity of his character in SPECTRE, suggesting that popular assumptions regarding who he might be playing could be wide of the mark…
While Waltz is officially credited as “Oberhauser”, the Austrian star is widely believed to be playing none other than seminal Bond villain, Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
However, when asked whether he would be playing the head of SPECTRE in the new film, Waltz brushed off the question, saying, “No. No. It’s more interesting than that.”
Of course, this could be a simple bluff on Waltz’s part, but Collider posits the interesting theory that Blofeld could actually be played by Monica Belluci, whose character’s name, Sciarra, translates as a word denoting a volcanic area… a volano being where SPECTRE had traditionally based its operations.
We’ll find out for sure when SPECTRE opens in the UK on 23 October 2015 and the US on 6 November 2015.
