Christopher Walken is Zeus in Gods Behaving Badly
Eccentric star to play Olympian deity
Manic icon Christopher Walken is slated to play a down-and-out Zeus in the TV movie adaptation of literary bestseller Gods Behaving Badly .
The film, based on the satirical novel by author Marie Phillips, revolves around Zeus' family of destitute Gods and a young couple who change their lives.
During the book's promotion, Philips revealed: “Ultimately [religion] comes down to siding with one team or another...what about the Greeks?"
"No-one sides with that team any more. "But what if they were the ones who got it right? So here's this group of gods, imagine if they were still around…”
With Walken now onboard, the film boasts an eclectic cast that includes Alicia Silverstone, Sharon Stone, Oliver Platt, Rosie Perez and John Turturro.
Marc Turtletaub (producer on Away We Go ) is set to direct with Ben Stiller’s production company Red Hour Films bringing the project to life.
