Clooney's war, Charlotte's Web and Condon's warbling
Trailer park: promos arrive for The Good German, Charlotte’s Web and Dreamgirls
Three film trailers have arrived in the Information SuperBus Lane this morning that provide something for everyone.
First up, we have Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney’s latest collaboration, The Good German, set in the ruins of post-World War Two Berlin. US war correspondent Jake Geismar (Clooney) is contacted by former lover Lena Brandt (Cate Blanchett), whose husband is being hunted by the American and Russian armies. But is that all Lena’s story? As Jake digs deeper, he discovers extra layers of intrigue and danger, and even though Tully (Tobey Maguire), a solider in the motor pool assigned to ferry Jake around might be able to help thanks to some black market connections, he might also be a problem… Check out the trailer at Apple here .
Secondly there’s something for, you know, kids. Beloved children’s book Charlotte’s Web gets the movie makeover treatment, with Dakota Fanning giving her scary moppet all and a serious Babe vibe with talking animals (and, yes, fart jokes – why thank you Hollywood and your respectable treatment of kiddie classics). Head over to AOL for the new trailer here .
And last, but by no means least, we have Bill Condon’s adaptation of Dreamgirls, the ‘80s hit Broadway musical that chronicles the backstage rivalries of a group of female singers that takes its inspiration from Diana Ross and The Supremes. With Oscar whispers steadily building around it, this looks like a classy affair, featuring the likes of Beyonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson. MTV has the trailer in creaky Flash-O-vision here .
